TFPC revokes Dhanush's red card after actor's assurance

The dispute between the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) and actor Dhanush seems to have been resolved with the organisation revoking the latter’s ban following an assurance from him, claimed a report in Asianet News.

In July this year, the TFPC issued a public statement accusing Dhanush of accepting advance amounts from multiple producers but failing to deliver the promised films. The organisation advised producers to consult the Council before signing the actor for new projects.

The controversy arose after Dhanush received advance payments from production houses like Thenandal Films and Five Star Creations for films that were never produced. Following complaints from these production houses, the TFPC imposed a red card on Dhanush, effectively halting his ability to work on new projects.

Nevertheless, the recent resolution involves Dhanush repaying the advance amount along with interest to Five Star Creations. He also reportedly agreed to fulfil his commitment to Thenandal Films by signing one of their upcoming films. These conditions led to the lifting of his red card.

The TFPC is yet to release an official statement regarding the settlement.

Meanwhile, Dhanush is busy with his forthcoming ventures. He will headline Sekhar Kammula’s multilingual film Kubera, featuring Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna, and Jim Sarbh in key roles. He is also working on his directorial venture Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam.

New Tamil films suspended

In July, the TFPC announced a suspension of all new projects starting on 16 August and a halt on all film-related activities from 1 November. The decision was made to address the backlog of movies delayed at various stages of production and to control the rising costs associated with artiste fees and production expenses.

In the same announcement, the Council banned Dhanush from commencing new films.

Nadigar Sangam treasurer Karthi expressed his displeasure with the TFPC’s decision, describing it as “completely unacceptable”. He criticised the Council for not consulting their organisation before banning the actor.

In response, the TFPC defended its position, stating that they informed Nadigar Sangam a year ago about issues with the call sheets of five major stars, including Dhanush.
