Suriya to showcase three distinct looks in ‘Kanguva’

'Kanguva' is Suriya's 42nd film, with Bollywood actress Disha Patani playing the female lead.

Kanguva, starring Suriya, is scheduled for release on 10 October. Before its eagerly awaited release, the makers revealed that the actor will have three distinct looks in the film.

With a budget of over ₹350 crore, Kanguva aims to surpass the impact of hits like Pushpa: The Rise (2021) and the Singham franchise. Filmed across seven countries, it recreates a prehistoric era with the help of Hollywood experts in action and cinematography and includes one of the largest war sequences ever filmed, involving over 10,000 actors.

Reports indicate that Suriya has undergone a significant transformation for Kanguva. His three distinct looks are set to add a fresh layer of intrigue to the film’s narrative.

The makers of Kanguva recently announced the release of the first single, “Fire Song”, with a poster showcasing an animated Suriya reacting to a ceremonial fire. The song will be released on 23 July, coinciding with the actor’s birthday.

Kanguva to be released in two parts

Producer KE Gnanavel Raja previously confirmed in an interview with Galatta Plus that Kanguva will be released in two parts. The second part is yet to be filmed and is expected to release in January 2027, if all goes as planned. The first part of Kanguva is currently in post-production.

Directed by Siva of Siruthai (2011)-fame, Kanguva includes period segments set 1,500 years in the past. The film also features Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, KS Ravikumar and BS Avinash and others.

The Kanguva teaser highlights gripping war scenes, fierce action, and thrilling moments, promising an edge-of-your-seat experience.

Billed as a “mighty valiant saga,” Kanguva features Disha Patani making her Tamil debut as the female lead. Bollywood actor Bobby Deol takes on the role of the antagonist.

Meanwhile, a glimpse into Kanguva’s VFX breakdown has surfaced on social media, thrilling fans. The VFX promises a visual treat, indicating that the film will be quite entertaining. The period drama boasts a record number of VFX frames and has undergone over six months of post-production. A Hollywood team was hired for the VFX work, and their output has been met with enthusiasm.

With music by Devi Sri Prasad, the film boasts cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy, editing by Nishad Yusuf, and dialogues penned by Madan Karky. The screenplay was written by Adi Narayana.

A co-production of UV Creations and Studio Green, Kanguva will be released in 3D across 38 global languages.
