The makers of Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran revealed the first-look poster of SJ Suryah’s character on his birthday, 20 July. Sharing the poster on X (formerly Twitter), they praised the actor’s hard work and passion, calling it “inspiring.”

In the poster, Suryah sports a clean-shaven look in khaki.

Directed by SU Arunkumar, Veera Dheera Sooran is an action drama with Theni Eswar as the cinematographer, Prasanna GK as the editor, and CS Balachander as the art director.

SU Arunkumar’s last release was the critically acclaimed Chiththa (2023) starring Siddharth. He also directed Pannaiyarum Padminiyum (2014), Sethupathi (2016), and Sindhubaadh (2019).

GV Prakash is composing the music for Veera Dheera Sooran, marking his fourth collaboration with Vikram after Deiva Thirumagal (2011), Thaandavam (2012), and Thangalaan (2024).

Veera Dheera Sooran is hinted to be a sequel, with production underway for the second part, though release dates for both parts are yet to be announced. The project, which began filming in April, also features Dushara Vijayan, and Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu, who is making his Tamil debut.

Veera Dheera Sooran, an action drama

In the three-minute title teaser released on Vikram’s birthday in April, the actor is introduced as Kali, a small department store owner. When goons posing as customers try to attack, Kali grabs a gun and shoots them. At the end, he tells a customer her items cost ₹62, hinting that this is Vikram’s 62nd film.

Veera Dheera Sooran, produced by Riya Shibu under HR Pictures, also features Dushara Vijayan and Suraj Venjaramoodu in key roles. This film marks the Malayalam actor’s Tamil cinema debut.

It appears that Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2 will be released before Veera Dheera Sooran Part 1.

Meanwhile, Vikram’s Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith, is set to release on 15 August, coinciding with Independence Day. The trailer reveals a tribal leader’s struggle against those seeking to seize their land for gold mining, touching on themes like sorcery, hallucinations, and labour exploitation.

Based on a true story set in the Kolar Gold Fields during British rule, Thangalaan features Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan as the female leads, along with Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, and Harikrishnan Anbudurai in key roles.

The film has been in production since 2022.
