Despite over three decades in the industry, Akshay Kumar remains passionate and continues to pursue films he believes in. This year, he has released two films–Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Sarfira, with two more major releases lined up.
The Bollywood actor, often trolled for releasing four or more movies a year, recently addressed the criticism in an interview.
On a podcast with Mamaearth founder Ghazal Alagh, Akshay Kumar responded to trolls, saying, “People say I should do just one film a year. If I do that, what will I do for the rest of the days? Should I come to your house?”
Akshay Kumar was last seen in Sarfira alongside Radhikka Madan. His next film, Khel Khel Mein, is set to release on 15 August.
Akshay Kumar revealed that it is heartbreaking for him to see his films fail. Sarfira, released on 12 July, has earned just over ₹21 crore at the box office, according to Sacnilk.
Sarfira will always be an important film for all of us! @akshaykumar Sir Thank you for choosing Sarfira as your 150th film & you’ve made Veer come alive so beautifully @Sudha_Kongara you’ve lived this dream for so many years happy our film is in theatres now #RadhikkaMadan is… pic.twitter.com/LzAwf7h4pZ

Akshay Kumar told Forbes India, “Every film involves a lot of effort and passion, so it’s heartbreaking to see one fail. However, failure teaches you the value of success and fuels your hunger for it. Fortunately, I learned to handle this early in my career.”
He added, “Failures hurt and affect you, but you can’t change a film’s fate. What you can control is working harder, making improvements, and giving your best to the next project. That’s how I channel my energy and focus where it matters most.”

Meanwhile, Sarfira’s leading lady, Radhikka Madan, discussed her on-screen chemistry with co-star Akshay Kumar, despite their 27-year age gap.
In a recent interview with a leading English website, Radhika addressed the age-gap chatter.
“When the film was announced and the trailer released, the age gap was a topic of discussion. But after the release, I read 42 reviews, none of which mentioned it. Instead, they praised our chemistry, calling it cracking, intense, and lovely. Initially, people focused on the superficial aspect, but the film tells a very different story.”
Filmmaker Sudha Kongara, in an interview, shared that she had creative differences with Akshay Kumar on set, which lasted about a week. During this time, Akshay would “see through” her, prompting producer Vikram Malhotra to mediate. Eventually, they resolved these issues, but Sudha noted she didn’t have the same luxuries she had with Suriya during Soorarai Pottru.
Sarfira is the Hindi remake of Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru, inspired by Air Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath. The 2020 film won five National Awards.
