Keerthy Suresh is promoting her upcoming Tamil film, Raghu Thatha, which marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Suman Kumar, known for the famous Amazon series, The Family Man (2019).
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Keerthy Suresh talked about her Bollywood debut in Baby John, the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit, Theri (2016), which featured Vijay, in the lead.
Keerthy noted that while remakes can be daunting, she felt confident about Baby John due to the strong portrayal of Samantha’s character in Theri. She explained that while the core story remains the same, updates have been made to suit contemporary audiences and differences between Tamil and Hindi cinema.
Directed by Kalees and featuring Varun Dhawan, Baby John will see Keerthy in the role originally played by Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
Keerthy expressed optimism about the film, saying, “I have high hopes for Baby John.”
Janhvi Kapoor was originally cast to star opposite Varun Dhawan again after Bawaal (2023), but Keerthy Suresh replaced her.
Initially, it was reported that Atlee, who directed the original, would also helm the Hindi remake.
Produced by Priya Atlee, Murad Khetani, and Jyoti Deshpande, Baby John is set to release on 25 December and also, features Wamiqa Gabbi and Jackie Shroff.
With music by Thaman, Baby John’s cinematography is by Kiran Koushik and editing is by Ruben.
