Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj has wrapped up shooting on Monday, 17 March.
The action entertainer is being produced by Sun Pictures and stars Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Reba Monica John, Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde alongside Rajinikanth.
Sharing the news, the production house wrote on X: “It’s a super wrap for #Coolie” They also shared a 20-second BTS video of the film.

Touted as a gangster action film, Coolie will feature action sequences choreographed by the renowned Anbariv duo. The film is a standalone project and not part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, which includes Kaithi (2019), Vikram (2022), and Leo (2023).
Filming began in 2024 July, with Girish Gangadharan as the director of photography, and Philomin Raj handling the editing.
Coolie is slated for a summer 2025 release, though a specific date has yet to be announced. Lokesh Kanagaraj, alongside Chandhru Anbazhagan, has written the dialogues and additional screenplay for the film. The film will be released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada.
Meanwhile, the actor has also started shooting for Jailer 2.
The makers announced the sequel with a four-minute teaser, in which, director Nelson and music director Anirudh are seen chilling at Goa. Soon a group of people barge into the house, and a man is attacking them. The man is revealed to be none other than Superstar Rajinikanth.
Rajinikanth will reprise his role as Muthuvel Pandian IPS in Jailer 2. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are expected to return as Mathew and Narasimha respectively, with new surprise cast additions.
Rajinikanth was last seen in Vettaiyan, in which he plays the role of a police officer, who is an encounter specialist.
