Dhanush-starrer Raayan, which had a successful box office run, is all set to stream on the OTT giant Amazon Prime Video from 23 August.
Directed by Dhanush and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, the Tamil film features an ensemble cast, including SJ Suryah, Prakash Raj, Selvaraghavan, Saravanan, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan, and Aparna Balamurali.
Raayan, Dhanush’s 50th film, will be available on the OTT platform in Tamil, with dubs in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada across India and 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The film follows four siblings who flee their village for the city. As adults, Manickam (Kalidas Jayaram) is a righteous college student, Muthu (Sundeep Kishan) is impulsive, and Raayan (Dhanush) assumes the role of the responsible father figure. Their bond revolves around their sister Durga (Dushara Vijayan).
Raayan’s attempts to arrange Durga’s marriage lead him into a power struggle between gangsters Sethu (SJ Suryah) and Durai (Saravanan). A new cop in town (Prakash Raj) manipulates the situation to clean up the city, while Raayan fights to protect his family.
Released on 26 July, Raayan grossed over ₹150 crore in its third week. On its 16th day, the film saw a 56 percent increase from the previous day, earning ₹2.15 crore at the box office.
Further, the film registered a gross collection of ₹75 crore in Tamil Nadu and is now aiming for ₹200 crore.

In an interview, Kalidas Jayaram and Dushara Vijayan shared their experiences working with Dhanush on Raayan.
Kalidas Jayaram praised Dhanush more as a filmmaker than an actor. “It’s remarkable to see Dhanush sir’s dedication. His direction and vision shape the world of the film, which is no easy feat. I learned so much from him—it felt like a free film school.”
The actor also admired Dhanush’s on-set energy. “He’s not one to stay in one place and give orders. His energy as a director is incredible; if he’s not satisfied with something, he fixes it himself. He relentlessly pursues perfection.”
Dushara Vijayan noted that she learned a great deal from Dhanush as well. “He taught me how to stand still comfortably, and how to listen with a neutral expression rather than frowning. Being fully present in a scene is crucial, and that’s a lesson I gained from him.”
Raayan also features music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Om Prakash, editing by Prasanna GK, stunts by Peter Hein, and dance choreography by Prabhudheva and Baba Baskar.
