Nayanthara's Mookuthi Amman 2 announced

The second part of Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman, which was released in 2020, has been in the news for some time. Upon its release on Disney+ Hotstar, the film was a tremendous success.

Meanwhile, Vels Film International, the banner which produced the superhit film in 2020, has announced the sequel—Mookuthi Amman 2. The sequel will be produced by Vels Film International Chairman Ishari K Ganesh. The production house recently backed PT Sir (2024).

The makers released an animated video of Nayanthara to announce Mookuthi Amman 2. The video featured Mookuthi Amman’s bejewelled trident, bangles, and mookuthi (nose ring). The sequel comes with the tagline: “When the evil rises, Amman strikes”. The video ends with the announcement, “The divine battle begins soon.”

In the first part, a struggling reporter named Engels Ramasamy (actor-director RJ Balaji) gets help from a local goddess (Nayanthara) to expose a fake godman named Bhagavathi Baba (Ajay Ghosh). It featured Moulee, Urvashi, Smruthi Venkat, Indhuja Ravichandran, and Yashika Anand in major roles.

However, it is not yet confirmed if RJ Balaji and the other actors will also be part of the sequel. For now, the makers only confirmed the return of Nayanthara as Mookuthi Amman.

Meanwhile, Nayanthara was spotted at the grand wedding ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Mumbai, accompanied by her filmmaker-husband Vignesh Shivan. On the work front, she is rumoured to be part of Mammootty’s new film directed by Tamil filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon.

Nayanthara is also playing a prominent role in Kavin’s forthcoming film with Vishnu Edavan. The shooting started recently.

She will be seen in Test, directed by Sashikanth of YNot Studios. The film will cast R Madhavan and Siddharth in the lead roles. She is also rumoured to be part of Yash’s new film Toxic under the direction of Geethu Mohandas.

Nayanthara was last seen in Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food (2023), which marked her 75th film. The film received mixed response but was pulled down from Netflix following accusations of Hindu sentiments being hurt in some scenes.
