Sam CS confirms working on 'Kaithi 2'. (X)
Music composer Sam CS recently in a conversation with South First confirmed that he would be collaborating with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for the Karthi starrer Kaithi 2.
The musician has made his mark in Tamil and Telugu film industries along with the Malayalam movie industry. Recently he was roped in for working on the background score of Pushpa 2: The Rule.
Asked if he would be working in Kaithi 2, Sam CS said, “Yes, Lokesh Kanagaraj called me and told me that we will be working together for Kaithi 2. It is confirmed now.”
Kaithi 2 is the sequel to the 2019 hit Kaithi. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures, the 2019 film is an action thriller starring Karthi, Narain, Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman, George Maryan, and Dheen and key roles. Music for Kaithi also was given by Sam CS.
The movie grossed over ₹155 crore and was selected for official screening at the International Indian Film Festival, Toronto in August 2020.
In Kaithi, Karthi’s character Dilli’s introduction scene is in a prison, however, the back story of Dilli is not known. Fans now guess if Kaithi 2 will delve into this aspect.
Kaithi (2019) is part of the LCU— Lokesh Cinematic Universe— which includes Vikram (2022) and Leo (2023). In all three films, characters from other films have a cameo, or a plot point is motivated by another film.
In October, Lokesh revealed that a 10-minute short film about the origins of LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) will be released soon, which is supposed to reveal the common thread between these films.
Karthi was last seen in Meiyazhagan which became a huge hit and garnered applause from audience and critics alike. He is currently working on Sardar 2.
On the other hand, Lokesh is working on Coolie with superstar Rajinikanth. Touted as a gangster action film, Coolie will feature action sequences choreographed by the renowned Anbariv duo.
