Actor Malavika Mohanan has been signed for a prominent role in the upcoming Tamil film Sardar 2, starring Karthi. Directed by PS Mithram, the movie is a sequel to the 2022 spy thriller Sardar, also headlined by Karthi.
Malavika Mohanan took to social media to announce that she came aboard for Sardar 2. In the post, the actor said she was excited to be part of the film. However, the makers are yet to reveal more about her role in the flick.
The regular shooting of Sardar 2 commenced on 15 July, However, the filming came to a halt recently after a tragedy on the sets. A stuntman named Ezhumalai fell to his death while wrapping up the shoot after a stunt sequence.
The makers also roped in actor-director SJ Suryah for a key role in Sardar 2. Cinematographer George C Williams and stunt director Dhilip Subbarayan, who were part of Sardar, joined the sequel.
However, music director GV Prakash Kumar has been replaced by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Antony L Ruben is the editor and Rajeevan Nambiar is the production designer.
Sardar became a blockbuster hit and also received critical acclaim from critics. The movie featured Karthi in a dual role as father-son. Raashii Khanna and Rajisha Vijayan were the leading ladies.
Meanwhile, Malavika Mohanan is currently working on Vikram’s Thangalaan, which will be released in theatres soon. During a question-answer session on the X platform, the actor described her meeting with Vikram.
The actor recounted that she was intimidated when she first met Vikram. However, he made her comfortable on the sets of Thangalaan.
“I was so intimidated when I met him (Vikram) for the first time haha. I felt so awkward about making a fool of myself doing stunt sequences with him as it was my first time at action scenes. But he made me so incredibly comfortable. So kind and giving as a co-actor he is. I couldn’t imagine having gone through this journey without him. What a man! Only love & respect for him,” she added.
