Mahesh Babu, Khushbu Sundar, and Raghava Lawrence review 'Raayan'. (X)
Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu was all praise for Dhanush’s Raayan and called it a stellar film.
On X, Mahesh Babu spoke of the “brilliant” direction, “outstanding performances” by the supporting cast, and AR Rahman’s “electrifying score” in Raayan, along with a fire emoji. He also described the film as a “must-watch” and congratulated the team.
In response, Dhanush thanked Mahesh Babu on his timeline, noting that his team was thrilled by the appreciation.
In addition to Mahesh Babu, actors Raghava Lawrence, and Khushbu Sundar equally showered Raayan with praise.
Earlier, Dhanush expressed gratitude to his fans on X for the “blockbuster birthday gift,” using folded hands and heart emojis to thank the audience, film industry, friends, press, and fans for their love.
Raayan made a strong box-office debut. Directed by Dhanush, the action thriller performed exceptionally well in the Tamil markets, earning around ₹41.7 crore.
This success contrasts with the underwhelming performance of Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, directed by Shankar.
Raayan’s total domestic collection reached ₹47.90 crore. Released last week, the Dhanush-starrer earned approximately ₹5 crore on its first Monday, bringing its five-day total close to ₹50 crore, according to Sacnilk.
The film has set impressive records at the global box office, becoming one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of the year with a worldwide gross exceeding ₹70 crore in just three days. Of this, approximately ₹22 crore comes from the overseas market.
Raayan is nearing the lifetime gross of Dhanush’s previous film, Captain Miller (2024), which earned around ₹75 crore worldwide.

Despite mixed reviews, Raayan has been well-received by the audience, thanks to the powerful background score and soul-stirring songs by AR Rahman.
The actor-filmmaker also shared a video on Instagram from Rahman’s recent show in Malaysia, where the latter performed hits from his career, including tracks from Bombay (1995) and Raayan.
The video featured a motion poster of Dhanush from the film on an LED wall, with the audience celebrating the “Adangaatha Asuran” track.
Dhanush noted that he never imagined the simple words “usure needhane” in Rahman’s melody would resonate so widely and become iconic. He also thanked Rahman, calling it a “pure goosebumps moment”.
