Vikram, celebrating the huge success of his latest film Thangalaan, which has earned over ₹100 crore worldwide in under two weeks, hosted a special traditional success party for the film’s team. A video from the event has gone viral, with many applauding the actor’s humility.
The video features Vikram in traditional attire—an off-white shirt and veshti—serving food to his team members seated with banana leaves for a lavish feast.
The clip quickly went viral on social media. Studio Green, the producer of Thangalaan, also shared photos from the celebration, showing Vikram enjoying the moment with his colleagues.
Parvathy Thiruvothu, who had a key role in Thangalaan, thanked Vikram on Instagram for his warm gesture, describing the experience as “magical.”
Directed by Pa Ranjith, Thangalaan is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja, with cinematography by A Kishor Kumar, editing by Selva RK, and music by GV Prakash Kumar. The film stars Vikram, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, and Pasupathy in pivotal roles.
Ranjith explained at a recent press meet, “I aimed to use magical realism to connect the film with the audience. Thangalaan draws on mythology, which is essentially history mixed with belief and faith. I wanted to incorporate that to tell the story of Thangalaan.”

Thangalaan follows a powerful tribal chief on a quest to confront a sorceress after her vengeance strikes due to his help in uncovering gold for a British officer.
Like all of Ranjith’s films, Thangalaan has sparked important discussions about the oppression of the voiceless and highlighted their struggles.
Vikram spoke of the mental transformation required for his role in Thangalaan, at the Hindi trailer launch. He said, “Physically, I became lean and wiry, resembling someone surviving on a single meal a day.”
He added, “Mentally, I delved deeply into understanding Thangalaan’s ambition, bravery, and vulnerability through extensive discussions with Ranjith. We aimed for a unique performance, and after much internalising, we were perfectly aligned. Working with Ranjith has been liberating, and he deeply inspires the film.”
At the Thangalaan audio launch, Parvathy Thiruvothu expressed that working with Vikram is a dream.
In a video posted by the makers on YouTube, she said, “It has always been my dream to work with Vikram. With complete conviction, I can say he is the best co-actor I’ve worked with. He supports you throughout the film and is incredibly generous with everyone around him. I hope to emulate his qualities one day.”
For those who missed the theatrical release, Thangalaan will soon be available to stream on Netflix, its official OTT partner. While the exact release date is yet to be announced, the film is expected to premiere on Netflix in early or mid-October 2024, following the typical two-month window after its theatre run.
