After scoring a hit with Raayan (2024), Dhanush is now directing his next film, Idly Kadai. This will be his 52nd film as an actor and fourth as a director.
His first directorial venture, the 2017 film Pa Pandi, received critical acclaim. Raayan (2024) is his second movie as a director. Meanwhile, his third directorial, Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK), is in the production stage.
Announcing his fourth directorial, Dhanush shared a film poster on his social media handle that revealed its title—Idly Kadai.
It is also reported that Nithya Menen will play the lead role opposite Dhanush in Idly Kadai, and Prakash Raj will play a key role. The trio was last seen in the superhit film Thiruchitrambalam (2022).
Prakash Raj also worked with Dhanush in his latest directorial Raayan.
Further, Ashok Selvan is expected to appear in a pivotal role in Idly Kadai. Arun Vijay is likely to play the antagonist.
It has also been reported that the film will be a family entertainer, contrary to Dhanush’s recent action dramas.

Aakash Baskaran of Dawn Pictures is backing Idly Kadai along with Dhanush’s production house Wunderbar Films. This is the maiden production venture of Dawn Pictures.
On 17 September, Dawn Pictures took to social media to share the news of their debut project. The makers also tagged Dhanush’s production house Wunderbar Films, which will co-produce the film alongside Dawn Pictures.
A note shared by Dawn Pictures further expressed their excitement. “We proudly announce our debut project ‘D52’ with ‘Nadipin Asuran’ Dhanush sir. We sincerely thank him for this wonderful opportunity to collaborate on this exciting journey,” producer Aakash Baskaran said in the note.
The music for this Tamil film will be composed by GV Prakash.
Reports also claim that the shooting for D52 already commenced in Theni, beginning with a song sequence.
