The makers of Vidaa Muyarchi unveiled the first look of actor Arjun Sarja on 28 July. Ajith Kumar fans were pleasantly surprised by the unexpected release of the poster. Looks like Sunday is the new Thursday!

Directed by Magizh Thirumeni, Vidaa Muyarchi reunites Ajith Kumar, Arjun Sarja, and Trisha Krishnan after Venkat Prabhu’s Mankatha (2011).

The first look features a double-exposure image of Ajith and Arjun, following the release of a special poster featuring Ajith and Trisha.

Produced by Lyca Productions, Vidaa Muyarchi also stars Regina Cassandra, Aarav, and Nikhil, with music by Anirudh Ravichander, who previously composed for Ajith Kumar’s Vedalam (2015) and Vivegam (2017).

Vidaa Muyarchi was initially to be directed by Vignesh Shivn but he exited from the project, owing to creative differences.

Om Prakash handles the cinematography, and NB Srikanth oversees editing. Art director Milan, who was working on Vidaa Muyarchi, passed away in October 2023, due to cardiac arrest.

Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical digital rights.

Vidaa Muyarchi to hit the screens for 2024 Diwali?

After his daughter Aishwarya married Umapathy, son of actor Thambi Ramaiah, Arjun Sarja shared updates about Vidaa Muyarchi with the press.

He mentioned that while the release date is yet to be announced, the film is aiming for a Diwali release.

Meanwhile, Ajith Kumar, last seen in H Vinoth’s Thunivu (2023), will next appear in Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran.

Arjun Sarja, last seen in Vijay’s Leo (2023), is awaiting the release of Theeyavar Kulaigal Nadunga with Aishwarya Rajesh.

Directed by debutant Dinesh Lakshmanan and produced by G Arul Kumar under the GS Arts banner, Theeyavar Kulaigal Nadunga is expected to be a crime investigation thriller. It also stars Ramkumar Sivaji, GK Reddy, Praveen Raja, Prankster Rahul, and Thangadurai.

Aishwarya plays a teacher, while Arjun portrays a probing officer. The technical crew includes editor Lawrence Kishore and music director Bharath Aaseevgan.

For Arjun Sarja, each new film is unique, but he has favourites like Shankar’s Gentleman (1993; Tamil) and Sri Manjunatha (2001; Kannada) directed by K Raghavendra Rao, and Sri Anjaneyam (2004; Telugu) directed by Krishna Vamsi, as he mentioned in an interview.

When asked whether he excels more in acting or directing, Arjun Sarja added, “If it’s a question of excelling, I’d say both. But if you ask which I enjoy more, it’s directing right now. The creative process and seeing the project unfold is exhilarating. As a director, I have full control over every aspect, ensuring my screenplay fully translates to film.”

Ajith Kumar and Prashanth Neel not collaborating on a film

In other news, reports hinted at a possible collaboration between Ajith Kumar and director Prashanth Neel after their recent meeting.

However, the actor’s manager, Suresh Chandra, clarified to Hindustan Times, “Ajith sir and Prashanth Neel met, exchanged pleasantries, and hold each other in high regard, but no film was discussed. I’d love to see them work together, but it’s not happening soon.”

DT Next recently speculated that Ajith and Prashanth Neel might collaborate on two films; a standalone project and a sequel linked to Yash’s KGF universe.
