Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju and Bobby Deol to join 'Thalapathy 69'. (X)
With Vijay’s GOAT set to release on Netflix, the audiences have now shifted their focus to Thalapathy 69.
The film is expected to be Vijay’s final acting project before he transitions to a political career, ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Amid high expectations, the yet-to-be-titled film is slated for an October 2025 release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Apart from the basic details about the director and music composer, the makers have not revealed much.
While H Vinoth is directing the film, Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music. It is being produced by KVN Productions.
However, the makers have started to reveal the cast members. Among the key cast members are Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, and Pooja Hegde.
Sharing the update on X, the production house wrote: “100% official now, Super happy & excited to announce that Bobby Deol joins #Thalapathy69 cast.”

Bobby Deol is making his debut in non-Hindi cinema with Suriya’s upcoming film Kanguva, directed by Siva, where he will play the role of an antagonist. He was last seen in Animal (2023), where he played the role of the villain opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
On Wednesday, 2 October the makers revealed that Pooja Hegde is also set to join the star cast. Pooja was cast opposite Vijay in Beast (2022).
The team wrote on X: “Bringing the stunning duo back to the big screen once again. We know you’ve already cracked it, but officially welcome onboard Pooja Hegde.”

Later on Wednesday evening, the makers revealed another cast member— Mamitha Baiju of Premalu (2024) fame.
The actor rose to fame after her performance in the Malayalam rom-com Premalu.

Since Thalapathy 69 is its first pan-India venture, KVN Productions promised an epic cinematic experience. A press release from the makers in September expressed their excitement, stating, “We are pulling out all the stops to ensure this final chapter in Vijay’s illustrious career is nothing short of legendary.”
Director Vinoth is known for directing Sathuranga Vettai (2014), Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru (2017) and three films with Ajith—Nerkonda Paarvai (2019), Valimai (2022), and Thunivu (2023).
According to reports, the film is expected to start shooting in a few days, however, there might be a break in the shooting owing to Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK)— Vijay’s political party— conference on 27 October.
Tamil actor Vijay’s last release GOAT (Greatest of All Time) released on 5 September, became a huge success in Tamil Nadu with a gross collection of over ₹400 crore.
