‘Amaran’ to release on OTT: When and where to watch

Amaran to release on Netflix

Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi starrer is finally releasing on the OTT. Amaran be available for a wider audience from 5 December, on the OTT giant Netflix.

The film broke the records at the box office by collecting over ₹300 crores worldwide. According to reports Amaran was supposed to have an OTT release a week before, but was postponed owing to its successful run at the theatres.

Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy Amaran is bankrolled by Raaj Kamal Films International and Sony Pictures International Productions.

Sharing the OTT release date, the production house wrote on X, “Still captivating audiences in theatres, Amaran will also stream on Netflix India, starting December 5th. Witness the journey of a true hero.”

The film is based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, who was killed in an encounter with militants from Hizbul Mujahideen. The film also focuses on the love story of Mukund and his wife Indu Rebecca Varghese.

Mukund lost his life in April 2014 during a clash with militants in Shopian, Kashmir. He was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry award.

Amaran has all the moments for it to be a patriotic movie, enhanced by fine performances by Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi. The movie is a fine tribute to Major Mukund who died in an army operation in Shopian,” our review read.

Amaran team meet defence minister

The film also garnered appreciation from politicians, on Friday, 29 November, the team including actor Sivakarthikeyan, director Rajkumar Periasamy and producer Mahendran met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in Delhi.

Sharing the photos of the meet, the makers wrote, “The Honourable Minister extended his congratulations to the Amaran team for the film’s remarkable success. As a biopic of Major Mukund Varadharajan, this meeting resonated deeply with the patriotic spirit and heartfelt tribute that the film embodies for our nation’s heroes.”
