Tamil watchlist September. (X)
Fans and film buffs are bound to have a delightful month as several Tamil films, including quite a few much-awaited ones, are all set to hit the screens in September.
Last month, only a few movies were released, unwilling to take on Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer (2023) at the box office.
Those films that were originally supposed to be released in August but chose to delay their arrival because of Jailer have now lined up to hit the marquee along with those planned for September.
Some of the much-awaited flicks that are scheduled to hit screens this month are as follows:
Director C Aravind Raj’s Paramporul, which is scheduled to hit screens on 1 September, is among the most expected films to release this month.
The film has raised expectations as it features Sarathkumar, who plays a police inspector, in the lead along with young actor Amithash.
It may be recalled that Sarathkumar’s previous film, Por Thozhil (2023), too had him playing a cop and combining with a young actor.
The plot revolves around the smuggling and selling of ancient sculptures in Tamil Nadu. It is an action entertainer, which, sources say, is bound to thrill audiences.
Paramporul, which also features Kashmira Shah in a prominent role, has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The big-budget flick is being made in five languages — Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. It is billed as a pan-Indian film.

Director Vaali Mohan Das’s film Rangoli, slated for release on 1 September, has the undivided attention of film buffs and critics.
The reason why it evoked interest is that the movie features young actor Hamaresh in the lead along with Prarthana and Aadukalam Murugadoss.
Hamaresh is the nephew of director AL Vijay and actor Udhaya. Although Hamaresh acted in several movies as a child artiste, this marks his debut as a hero.
Rangoli is about a schoolboy hailing from a lower middle-income family that looks to give him the best education possible, despite trying circumstances.
It has music by Sundaramurthy KS and cinematography by Marudhanayagam.
