Tamil watchlist October 2023

October 2023 promises to be an exciting month for the lovers of Tamil cinema as actor Vijay’s much-awaited action entertainer, Leo is all set to release this month.

Several other exciting films are also expected to hit the screens this month.

Here is a list of some of the Tamil movies that are eagerly awaited by the audience:

Leo

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s much-awaited film Leo, featuring actor Vijay in the lead, will be released on 19 October.

Frenzied fans of Vijay are eagerly awaiting the release of Leo as it will be the third in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe.

Expectations from the flick are running so high that Ahimsa Entertainment, which holds the theatrical rights for Leo in the UK and Europe, announced that the movie had set a new pre-release record in the UK.

The distribution firm claimed that an impressive 10000+ tickets were booked for Leo within a day of opening ticket sales, 42 days before its global release!

Leo will be the first film of actor Vijay to be released in the IMAX format. Apart from Tamil, it will be dubbed in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

The movie has Trisha playing the female lead and Arjun, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, Priya Anand, and Mysskin playing pivotal roles.

The music is by Anirudh and the cinematography is by Manoj Paramahamsa.

800-The Movie

One of the most significant movies that sports lovers are eagerly looking forward to this month is director Sripathy’s 800-The Movie, the biopic of former ace Sri Lankan spinner Muthiah Muralidaran.

Sources say the film is scheduled to hit the screens on 6 October.

It features Madhur Mittal and Mahima Nambiar in the lead and has been shot extensively in Sri Lanka, where the unit had to brave riots to shoot some significant portions.

Cricketer Muthiah Muralidaran, while speaking about the Tamil movie, said that he told director Sripathy that everything depicted in the film must be the actual truth.

He further said, “This is a film that is not about cricket. The records can be accessed from the Internet. What is there in 800 is the inside story. The other side of achieving 800.”

“Cricket scenes will appear for 20 minutes in this two-hour 45-minute film. The remaining will be about my ancestry, how I played cricket despite my challenges,” he added.

One other most eagerly awaited film this October is director Yuvaraj Dhayalan’s Irugapatru.

The Tamil film, which features a host of young stars like Vikram Prabhu, Shraddha Srinath, Vidarth and Sri, is releasing in theatres on 6 October.

Interest in the film shot up after the unit released a trailer that showed that it was about relationships. The project also evoked a lot of interest as director Yuvaraj Dhayalan is determined to deliver a hit.

It may be recalled that Yuvaraj’s previous film Eli, featuring Vadivelu in the lead, bombed badly at the box office. Eli‘s failure was so huge that it almost made Yuvaraj give up filmmaking.

Determined to show that he can deliver a hit as well, Yuvaraj has now come up with Irugapatru.
