Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj is celebrating his 38th birthday on Thursday, 14 March.
Lokesh created a separate fan base for himself with his path-breaking films in the Tamil industry.
His debut flick Maanagaram (2017) was applauded for the strong script.
Also, the Tamil film kept the importance of every character, intertwining them and weaving their stories together.
Formation of LCU
Lokesh Kanagaraj’s second venture Kaithi (2019) gave him a break and also to Karthi, who did not deliver a hit for a long time.
Kamal Hassan-starrer Vikram (2022) made Lokesh the status of hit director by becoming a blockbuster hit.
The movie also did well in the neighbouring states, including Kerala.
With Vikram, Lokesh Kanagaraj made a cinematic universe, popularly known as Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), as the film had some references to Kaithi.
Vijay’s Leo (2023) is the latest movie of Lokesh Kanagaraj, which is also part of the LCU.
The filmmaker was appreciated for brilliantly blending the characters, while the human sacrifice part did not go down well with critics and audiences alike. However, Leo was a blockbuster and earned around ₹500 crore.
Lokesh claimed that with his cinematic universe, he was campaigning against drug abuse and was aiming to see a drug-free society.
Recently, Lokesh Kanagaraj announced that he would take a break from social media since he was busy working on his next movie with Rajinikanth, tentatively titled Thalaivar 171. It’s not sure if the movie will be part of LCU.
Rajinikanth is now shooting for his 170th movie titled Vettaiyan.
Lokesh Kanagaraj’s fans are waiting for Kaithi 2, which he announced much earlier.
The director did two films with Vijay — Master (2021) and Leo. Master was a standalone movie.
Kaithi 2 will be done after he wraps Superstar Rajinikanth’s Thalaivar 171.
