Tamil actor Suriya visits filmmaker Siddique’s house, pays tribute

Malayalam director Siddique died 9 August while undergoing treatment for multiple ailments at a private hospital in Kochi.

Suriya acted in Siddique's Tamil movie Friends

Tamil superstar Suriya visited the house of late director Siddique who breathed his last on 8 August.

The actor arrived at Siddique’s residence in Kakkanad in Kochi and spent some time with the late director’s family. He also extended his heartfelt condolences to the family members.

In a video shared on social media by Suriya’s fan, the actor can be seen talking to Siddique’s relatives.

Suriya worked with Siddique in the Tamil film Friends (2001), a remake of the 1999 Malayalam movie of the same name that featured Vijay, Devyani, and Vadivelu in key roles.

Friends gave the much-needed break to Suriya who was trying hard to build his career at the time.

Suriya’s emotional note

The Tamil superstar wrote a condolence note after Siqqique’s death where he said the director’s loss was irreplaceable.

He went on to add that Friends was an important movie for him and recalled that Siddique complimented every actor for making improvements in scenes during the shoot.

The Tamil actor also stated that he didn’t see Siddique raise his voice against anyone.

Suriya asserted that Siddique played a pivotal role in his career by boosting his inner confidence and helping him believe in his talent and himself.

Siddique died while undergoing treatment for multiple ailments at a private hospital in Kochi. He was cremated in Ernakulam Central Juma Masjid with state honours on Wednesday, 9 August.

The director was admitted to Amrita Hospital on 10 July. He was suffering from nonalcoholic liver cirrhosis. As his liver condition worsened, he was put on a ventilator in the cardiology ICU.

He was getting treatment since Sunday, 6 August, and was put on ECMO support after his heart and respiratory system stopped functioning.

After Siddique’s death, the film fraternity described him as a man with a kind heart.
