Tamil actor Daniel Balaji, popular for his films Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu (2006) and Vada Chennai (2018), passed away in Chennai due to a massive heart attack. He was 48.

He was admitted to a hospital in Kottivakam in the city after he complained of chest pain.

According to reports, the actor will be laid to rest at his residence near Purasaiwalkam on Saturday, 30 March.

Daniel Balaji’s sudden demise shocked the Tamil film industry and his fans.

The actor carved a niche for himself in the industry with his varied roles, mostly as a villain.

Balaji was believed to be a spiritual person and was reportedly building a temple in Avadi.

Condolences are pouring in for the actor from his fans and celebrities from the industry.

Director Mohan Raja said Daniel Balaji inspired him to join the film institute.

In his X post, Mohan Raja wrote that Balaji was a very good friend and he will miss working with him.

Writer-director Obeli N Krishna wrote: “Dear friend I couldn’t believe this #rip #ripdanielbalaji”

Tamil actor Narain condoled the death of Daniel Balaji. “Can’t believe he is gone. So unfortunate. His performances will always stay in our minds. But this is really sad news. May his soul rest in peace. #RIPDanielBalaji,” his post read.
