'Bandra' is inspired by Haji Mastan-Madhubala’s romance; Lijo Jose’s next titled ‘Malaikottai Valiban’; Sivamani roped in for ‘Quotation Gang’.
Tamannaah Bhatia will essay the role of a Bollywood actress in her Malayalam debut film Bandra.
The movie is reportedly based on a true incident where an actress was stalked and her beauty parlour was attacked by an underworld Don’s gang, said a little birdie close to the actor.
While this forms Bandra’s premise, the story is also inspired by the romance between Mumbai-based mafia leader Haji Mastan and Indian actor Madhubala, revealed the source.
The makers released the first-look poster of the film on 21 December, Tamannaah’s birthday.
Bandra marks actor Dilip’s 142nd film. Dino Morea, Punjabi actor Darasingh Khuranna and Sarath Kumar are also part of the cast.
The movie is directed by Arun Gopi and produced under the banner of Ajith Vinayaka Films. Anbu-Arivu, Mafia Sasi and Phoenix Prabhu have been roped in to choreograph the action scenes.

It is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. Bollywood actors Vidyut Jammal, Rajpal Yadav and Radhika Apte too are expected to join the cast. The shooting will begin in Rajasthan in January 2023.
Meanwhile, actor-filmmaker Prithviraj created a buzz about Malaikottai Valiban by sharing that he knows the story of the movie. Admitting that the role would be a challenging task for Mohanlal, Prithviraj oozed confidence that the actor would pull it off with elan.
Lijo’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, starring Mammootty, was shot entirely in Tamil Nadu and premiered recently at the International Film Festival of Kerala. It received a standing ovation after the screening.
