Vinay Forrt’s Somante Krithavu, released on 5 October, received an average response from the audience.
Directed by Rohith Narayanan, the movie deals with the protagonist Soman and his traits that aren’t liked by his family and villagers.
A Nature lover, Soman prefers organic food and protests against issues that affect the common people.
The movie is produced by Masterwork Studios and Raju Malliyath.
During a press conference in Kochi on Sunday, 8 October, Vinay Forrt expressed his displeasure with the producers for the lack of promotions.
“Somante Krithavu is getting a good response from people. But there aren’t enough posters of the movie to draw crowds to theatres. Even people in the media aren’t aware of its release,” the actor said.
He noted that in his lineup of films after Thamasha (2019), Somante Krithavu received a positive response from viewers. “I have been promoting this movie for the past 15 days. I had another offer which I declined so that I could promote this film. The producers usually complain that actors aren’t attending the promotional activities. However, it’s the reverse in this case,” Vinay Forrt added.
“The producers aren’t new. In fact, they are veterans in the industry. If a movie doesn’t have a good theatrical run, there is no possibility of getting an OTT platform like Amazon Prime or Sony Liv to stream it,” he pointed out.
Director Rohith Narayanan told the media that the shooting of Somante Krithavu was over about one-and-a-half years ago.
“We were waiting for its release all this while. We were told by the producers that advertisement and promotional activities would be taken up soon after finalising the release date but in vain. We are personally promoting our movie by visiting the theatres in Kerala,” he said.
Farah Shibla, the female lead of Somante Krithavu, also shared her unhappiness over the lack of promotional activities.
