Singer Alka Yagnik diagnosed with rare sensory hearing loss

Versatile playback singer Alka Yagnik has revealed that she has been diagnosed with a rare form of sensorineural hearing loss, which has suddenly brought her singing career to a halt.

She hopes to recover but described the diagnosis as a significant setback, attributing her hearing loss to a viral infection a few weeks ago.

In an Instagram post, Alka Yagnik shared that she first noticed the issue when she disembarked from a flight and realised she couldn’t hear.

The playback singer concluded her note with a message to her fans and colleagues, advising caution about exposure to loud music and headphones.

She expressed a desire to share the health risks of her profession in the future and hoped to recalibrate her life with their support.

“Your support and understanding mean the world to me during this critical time. I hope to return soon,” she added.
