Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s new film with debutant director Jithin K Jose has started rolling in Nagercoil, with a pooja on Wednesday, 25 September.
The yet-to-be-titled movie is being produced by Mammootty’s own production house, making it the seventh production of Mammootty Kampany. The movie will be distributed by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films.
Unconfirmed reports suggested that Mammootty, the leading man in the film, will play the role of an antagonist, opposite Vinayakan.
Vinayakan was also part of the pooja ceremony.
Jithin K Jose previously worked with Dulquer Salmaan on Kurup (2022). He co-wrote the script.
This movie will also see Mammootty and Vinayakan sharing screen after a long time. They were last seen together in Amal Neerad’s Big B (2007). Reports say that Vinayakan is taking on the role that was earlier meant to be done by Prithviraj and Joju George.
It is learnt that Mammootty will join the shooting location of the crime thriller after two weeks.
The movie has a talented technical team comprising Roby Varghese Raj, who is handling the cinematography. He had directed Mammootty’s Kannur Squad (2023). Sushin Shyam will be composing the music for the movie.
Mammootty’s previous movie Turbo (2023) directed by Vysakh and scripted by Midhun Manuel Thomas was a superhit.
His immediate release would be Bazooka, which is all set to release. However, the release date is yet to be confirmed. The movie is directed by Deeno Dennis, son of the veteran scriptwriter Kaloor Dennis. Bazooka will also have the Tamil actor-director Gautham Vasudev Menon in a key role.
Mammootty is currently shooting for Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Malayalam debut directorial Dominic and the Lady’s Purse. The movie is expected to be a thriller and the first look poster has raised expectations for the movie which is produced by Mammootty Kampany.
Meanwhile, there are reports of Mammootty and Mohanlal working together for a movie directed by Mahesh Narayanan that will be shot in Sri Lanka.
