The Tenkasi district collector issued orders to stop the shoot as the film unit allegedly failed to get required permissions from respective departments.
The work on director Arun Matheswaran’s upcoming period action film — Captain Miller featuring Dhanush in the lead — came to a halt on Tuesday, 25 April, after Tenkasi District Collector Durai Ravichandran issued orders to temporarily stop the shooting in the region.
However, the shoot resumed today, 26 April, after the unit got the necessary permits.
The temporary restraining orders were issued as the film unit allegedly failed to acquire the required permissions from the district administration, the fire department and the forest department.
Produced by Sathya Jyothi Films, Captain Miller is in its last phase of shoot. It was being filmed in a set erected on a private piece of land that falls within the buffer zone of the Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve, located in the southern part of Tamil Nadu.
The film unit was camping near Mathalamparai village and reportedly shot some action sequences on the set.
The lights and the noise emanating from the set were believed to have scared wild animals in the region, some of which strayed into the areas inhabited by humans.
While the team got permission from the forest department for filming the project in the Manimuthar Canal, it reportedly did not acquire permission for erecting a set near the Tiger Reserve.
Although the set was erected on a private piece of land located outside the reserve forest area, the locals claimed that the unit must have obtained permission for shooting from the forest department as the land comes within the buffer zone of the Tiger Reserve.
This apart, the locals also alleged that Captain Miller‘s team constructed a wooden bridge across the Chenkulam canal without permission from the Public Works Department.
However, the issue was resolved and the crew resumed the shooting today after getting the permits.
One of the eagerly-awaited films of the year, Captain Miller also features Priyanka Arul Mohan, Shivaraj Kumar, Sandeep Kishen, and Niveditha Sathish in key roles.
It will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. GV Prakash is its music composer.
