Shivaratri 2023 tollywood releases

The Telugu film industry has become quite challenging for producers to survive, especially for those making big-budget films at a pan-India level.

The only agenda of any filmmaker is to make profits. Rising to fame comes next. But nowadays, even after announcing the release date almost six months in advance, there is no guarantee that the movie will unfurl on the silver screen on that day.

Quite a few factors are responsible for a film’s release and postponement. One such major factor is the hero of another film released the same day.

Sankranti 2023: Clash of the Titans

Most filmmakers target festivals or the holiday season to release their projects. And the biggest festival everyone wants to target is Pongal/Sankranti. Interestingly, both Tamil and Telugu films are in the same boat.

Being the most important and the first festival of the year across the country, Sankranti is celebrated on a huge scale. The three-day-long festival brings a set of holidays to the public.

With cinema being the main source of entertainment for middle-class families, actors across the country look forward to releasing their flicks this season.

Also, while a Pongal release is considered prestigious for some senior heroes, it is all about luck for the younger lot. In short, producers can mint money during this season.

The same is the case for Sankranti 2023, too. And hence, movie buffs and fans are excited.

Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya, Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy, Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu/Vaarasudu, and Thala Ajith’s Thunivu are gearing up for Pongal/Sankranthi release.

New target: Shivaratri 2023

However, November and December seem to be nothing but a clearance sale of the Telugu movies committed before and during the lockdown.

December will witness the release of a host of films, but the month is likely to be a major disappointment for movie lovers as Dhanush’s SIR/Vaathi has been postponed to February.

This makes clear that the immediate festival after Sankranti — Maha Shivaratri — is the target for filmmakers.

Much before any of the aforementioned films announced their release date, the makers of Prabhas’ Adipurush announced a Pongal release.

Makers of Akhil’s Agent also declared that the flick will be released for Sankranti.

Prabhas cannot compete and compare with Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi at the box office. So does Akhil! While Adipursh is now pushed to monsoon, Agent is slated for release in February.

A lineup of releases

Meanwhile, Dhanush’s SIR/Vaathi — a bilingual from Venky Atluri — is releasing on 17 February 2023, a day before Maha Shivaratri.

The same is the case with Kiran Abbavaram’s Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha, Kalyan Ram’s Amigos, Akhil’s Agent, and Vishwak Sen’s Das Ka Dhamki.

The producers of the aforementioned flicks also announced the release dates almost three months in advance.

Well, which filmmaker doesn’t love a festival release? As regards the Shivaratri 2023 clash at the box office in Tollywood, let’s wait and watch as to who would be the game-changer!
