Director Surya Kiran, known for the Telugu blockbuster hit Satyam (2003) starring actors Sumanth and Genelia D’Souza, passed away on Monday, 11 March, following health-related complications in Chennai.
Mourning his death on social media, several celebrities from both Telugu and Tamil cinema expressed condolences on X. It is learnt that Kiran reportedly passed away due to jaundice at his Chennai residence.
Following his directorial debut, Surya Kiran went on to helm several other films, including Dhana 51 (2005), Brahmastram (2006), Raju Bhai (2007), and Chapter 6.
Additionally, he ventured into television as a contestant on Bigg Boss Telugu Season 4.

Born in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, Kiran has a sister named Sujitha, who is popular with the television audience.
Kiran was married to actor Kalyani, Avunu Valliddaru Ista Paddaru! (2002) fame. But they later got divorced.
