Tollywood star Nandamuri Balakrishna paid rich tributes to legendary actor and Telugu Desam Party founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) at NTR Ghat in Hyderabad on Thursday, 18 January, marking the latter’s 28th death anniversary.

However, a video of Balakrishna expressing displeasure over the erection of flex banners featuring his nephew Jr NTR near NTR Ghat went viral on social media.

In the video, Balakrishna promptly instructed his followers to remove the banners displaying Junior NTR. This incident fueled speculations of a new rift between Jr NTR and Balakrishna.

Though the family seemed close-bonding with Balakrishna during the 2009 elections when NTR was invited into the Nandamuri family, political conflicts in 2013 caused fissures between the two.

Though Jr NTR and Balakrishna reunited following the demise of late actor-politician Harikrishna (Jr NTR’s father), the rift seems to persist.

The recent incident at NTR Ghat once again brought attention to the differences between Balakrishna and Jr NTR.

Jr NTR has been keeping himself away from active politics. He is waiting for his upcoming movie Devara directed by Siva Koratala.

The film also features Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan, Prakash Raj, and Janhvi Kapoor in crucial roles. It will be released in two parts, with the first part coming out on 5 April.
