Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s Diwali release Monster, a project from the hit team that delivered Pulimurugan — the first Malayalam film to make it to the ₹100-crore club — turned out to be a debacle at the box office.
After its disastrous run, all eyes are now on RAM. It’s an action thriller written and directed by Jeethu Joseph, who had teamed up with the superstar for the Drishyam franchise and 12th Man.
Trisha is playing the lead lady in RAM. The movie also stars Samyuktha Menon, Indrajith Sukumaran, Anoop Menon and Suman in major roles. Vishnu Shyam is the music director. Ramesh P Pillai and Sundan S Pillai are jointly producing it under Abhishek Films and Passion Studios.
Mohanlal’s previous outing Aarattu was just a touch-and-go flick at the box office. His other outings Bro Daddy and 12th Man, released on Disney+ Hotstar, failed to create the magic like his Drishyam 2 which also was streamed as an Amazon Prime premier film.
Meanwhile, the superstar’s long-pending flick Alone will be streamed on an OTT platform. The movie was shot during the Covid-19 pandemic and is expected to salvage his image as an actor.
The makers recently released the teaser of Alone which created quite a sensation on the internet already. Shaji Kailas is the director. Antony Perumbavoor is producing it under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Regarding other future projects, Mohanlal’s Baaroz: Nidhi Kaakkum Bhootham, a multi-crore children’s fantasy film, is in the post-production stage. It marks his debut as a director. He is also playing the titular role in it.
Empuran is a sequel to his 2019’s blockbuster hit Lucifer. He also teamed up Lijo Jose of Kumbalangi Nights fame and with Joshiy for Waynadan Thampan.
Further, Mohanlal signed a film each with Tinu Pappachan (Angamaly Diaries-fame), Vivek (Athiran-fame) and Anoop Sathyan (Varane Avayushamund-fame).
Hope these movies would bring back Malayalam cinema’s very own “The Complete Actor”!
