She is one of the top stars in Telugu cinema, with a footprint in Tamil films too.

Now, Raashi Khanna will be seen with Dhanush in Thiruchitrambalam, a Sun Pictures production helmed by director Mithran R Jawahar.

The pretty actress is busy shooting, but she took time out to quickly chat with South First on this musical family drama being released on August 18.

In Thiruchitrambalam, she reportedly plays Dhanush’s classmate and love interest.

‘Became a fan of Dhanush’

Ask the ‘Thank You’ actress if she is excited about her role and Raashi quips: “I am very excited about Thiruchitrambalam. I play a modern girl named Anusha and all the characters have been written very well. I can’t wait for people to see it!”

This will be Raashi’s first film with Dhanush, who is now a global star, and she has always said that he has contributed immensely to cinema.

“I have always followed his work and been such a huge admirer of his talent. But after working with him, I have become a fan of his,” Raashi states elatedly.

“It’s a joy to see him perform and he’s just brilliant. I’ve never known anyone who’s so passionate about the craft of acting!”

About other co-stars

Interestingly, Raashi is not the only female actor in the film. She shares screen space with two other talented ladies: Nithya Menen and Priya Bhavani Shankar.

What was that experience like? “Our cast is lovely. I met Nithya during the song shoot of Megham Karukathe. She’s a lovely artist and person. I didn’t have any scenes with Priya, though whatever I see in the promos, she seems to have done really well too,” she is all smiles.

Music director Anirudh composed for Thiruchitrambalam (releasing as Thiru in Telugu) and he is incidentally also Raashi’s favourite music director.

Loves playing different roles

While the actor has been blazing a trail on screen in films, she also made her debut on OTT recently with none other than Ajay Devgn in Rudra.

Playing a sociopath-doctor, Raashi completely changed her look and attitude for the role of Aaliyah. She has always tried to look for roles that have different shades.

For instance, in her Telugu debut Oohalu Gusagusalade, she played a young teenager from a broken family. In Prati Roju Pandaage, she played a TikTok influencer who is hilarious.

Though she has essayed many roles, the Sardar actress says Thiruchitrambalam’s Anusha is different.

“It is a different film for me. I have a different character from the others that I have done so far; the story by director Mithran Jawahar is also different and warm,” she adds.

Life’s comes a full circle for Raashi

Raashi started her film career with John Abraham’s Madras Café. With the upcoming Hindi thriller Yodha, starring Sidharth Malhotra, it is a full circle.

So, is she happy about doing a Hindi film once again?

“I am quite happy that I went into Hindi again with Yodha. It’s shaped up very well and I am looking forward to the Hindi-speaking audience seeing me on the big screen again,” she signs off.

Right now, all eyes are on Thiruchitrambalam and Raashi Khanna hopes that all her fans love the film as much as she does!
