Double iSmart to release on 15 August

Puri Jagannadh’s upcoming film Double iSmart will be released in theatres on Independence Day on 15 August.

The makers announced the release date on Saturday, 15 June.

The film, also backed by Puri and Charmme Kaur’s banner Puri Connects, features Ram Pothineni in the lead.

Sharing the release date of Double iSmart on his Instagram handle, Ram announced that the film will hit the screens in five languages—Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

Ram Pothineni is seen sporting three horizontal lines of Vibhooti, with a background of a Shiva Lingam and a torch in the background.

Double iSmart is a sequel to Ram and Jagannadh’s 2019 sci-fi action film iSmart Shankar, about an assassin who helps the police when a slain cop’s memories are transferred to his brain.

Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, who was recently seen in Vijay’s Tamil hit Leo (2023), is also part of the cast of Double iSmart.

Kavya Thapar is playing the female lead in the movie.

Mani Sharma composed the music for the film, while Sam K Naidu and Gianni Gianneli are the cinematographers.

Double iSmart‘s trailer made it evident that the movie will be wackier than the first part and extremely loud in terms of its commercial meter.

The movie was initially slated for release on 8 March for Maha Shivaratri. However, it was rescheduled to 14 June. However, it was postponed again. The film will now be released on 15 August.

Ram Pothineni will next play the lead in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s yet-to-be-titled movie.

He was last seen in director Boyapati Srinu’s Skanda (2023), which opened to negative reviews. The film drew criticism for many elements like story, political satires, direction, and performances.

Skanda was a box-office flop, which is why the actor is pinning high hopes on Double iSmart.
