Dil raju tax varisu mathagam

Alleging that producer Dil Raju evaded tax by paying a sum that was much less than what he actually should pay as GST for Vijay-starrer Varisu, Vellalar Munnetra Kazhagam State President Anna Saravanan has urged the Tamil Superstar to prevail upon his producer and ensure that he pays the correct amount as tax.

In a letter written in Tamil to Vijay, Anna Saravanan said, “Several tasks that you have been undertaking because of your concern for society are laudable. For instance, you chose to motivate the first three rank holders in the 10th and 12th standard school examinations from each of the 234 constituencies in the state by presenting them with prizes. I felt proud of you when you appealed to students at the event not to take money for casting votes ”

But then, the politician alleged that the producer of Vijay’s Varisu evaded tax. “However, it has come to light that the producer of your film Varisu prepared documents in such a way that showed that he had only received a sum of ₹4 crore as the Kerala distribution rights of the film and had paid tax only for this amount while the actual Kerala distribution rights were sold for a sum of ₹7.5 crore.”

Anna Saravanan further alleged, “I have come to know that Dil Raju evaded tax to the tune of almost 45 per cent. While the general belief is that the total business of Varisu could have been anywhere around ₹360 crore, only God knows how much tax the producer paid the government.”

He stated that Vijay must be well aware of the fact that governments could carry out welfare programmes for the poor only through the money paid as taxes by those who make money.

The politician also requested the actor, who was helping people because of his societal concern, to advise his producers and ensure that they paid the correct tax to the government.
