Director Pradeep Ranganathan, who debuted as an actor with Love Today, disclosed that he had narrated a story to Thalapathy Vijay, but chose not to reveal the news since it could be misunderstood as a move to promote his recent release.
Meanwhile, AGS Entertainment – which produced Love Today – roped in Pradeep for its next venture, too. Since it is known that Vijay and AGS share a close bond, it is rumoured that Thalapathy would play the lead role in the project.
Given Love Today’s success, AGS Entertainment reportedly offered four times the remuneration to Pradeep for the next flick, which would deal with the role of smartphones in the lives of the youth.
Pradeep Ranganathan’s Love Today, which hit the theatres last Friday, 4 November, took the box office by surprise. It registered an opening of ₹2.45 crore as against ₹50 lakh earned by Sundar C’s directorial Coffee with Kadhal, starring Jiiva, Jai and Srikanth.
The movie’s collections rose dramatically in the next two days after it caught the fancy of youngsters and won good reviews. On Sunday alone, the film earned around Rs ₹5 crore.
In all, Love Today collected close to ₹Rs 13 crore till Monday, 7 November, as against ₹3 crore collected by Coffee with Kadhal.
The film will be released in Telugu soon by Dil Raju under his Sri Venkateswara Creations banner.
