Popular mimicry artist and Malayalam actor Kollam Sudhi dies in a car accident

Actors Binu Adimali, Ullas Aroor, and Mahesh, who were accompanying Kollam Sudhi, were hospitalised with injuries.

Popular Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Kollam Sudhi died in a car accident on Monday, 5 June. He was 39 years.

He and his co-artists Binu Adimali, Ullas Aroor and Mahesh were on their way back home after a stage programme in Vadakara when the mishap occurred.

The accident happened at around 4:30 AM near Kaipamangalam in Thrissur.

According to reports, the car in which Sudhi and other actors were travelling collided with a pick-up van that came from the opposite direction. Sudhi was rushed to a private hospital in Kodungallur where he succumbed to grave injuries.

Binu Adimali, Ullas Aroor and Mahesh were hospitalised with injuries. They were all returning after attending a programme — 24 Connect — for the 24 News Channel.

Excelled in comic roles

Kollam Sudhi was a popular mimicry artist. He participated in Star Magic aired by Flowers Channel (Malayalam) which helped him gain name and fame among family audiences.

The actor was also popular for his stage shows.

Sudhi debuted with the movie Kanthari in 2015. He later appeared in Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan (2016), Kuttanadan Marpappa (2018), Theetta Rappai (2018), Vakathirivu (2019), An International Local Story (2019), Escape (2022), Kesu Ee Veedinte Nadhan (2021), and Swargathile Katturumbu.

Condolences pour in

Tiny Tom, a much popular actor and mimicry artist also attended the programme in Vadakara. In his Facebook post, the actor revealed that they travelled in two different cars after the incident. He also posted a photo which was taken after the programme at the request of Sudhi.

Ullas Pandalam told the media that he was shattered by the news of the death of Kollam Sudhi.

According to him, he was supposed to attend the programme too. But he couldn’t participate due to date issues.

He recollected that Sudhi was sad that he couldn’t build a house of his own. However, Ullas and his friends hoped that they could avail the home loans since they were getting programmes after Covid.

Ullas Pandalam and Sudhi recently finished a movie shoot.

Lakshmi Nakshathra, the host of the Star Magic programme on Flowers Channel, wrote in her Facebook post that Kollam Sudhi was like her elder brother and condoled his death.

Actor Lukman Avaran expressed grief over the death of Kollam Sudhi.

Actor Unni Mukundan also condoled the death of the actor.

Popular actor Vinod Kovoor, who attended the show yesterday, was shocked to learn the news about the death of Kollam Sudhi.

In a Facebook post, he wrote that Sudhi mimicked actors Suresh Gopi and Jagadeesh during the programme. While mimicking Suresh Gopi, Sudhi asked audiences not to look at his face but only hear his voice.

Kovoor also mentioned Sudhi’s friend Binu Adimali who attended the programme. He is now being treated at the hospital.
