POCSO case filed against actor Koottickal Jayachandran

The Kerala police have filed a case against Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Koottickal Jayachandran under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, accusing him of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl.

The case was registered at Kasaba police station in Kozhikode following a complaint filed by the child’s mother.

The mother has reportedly claimed that Koottickal Jayachandran took advantage of an ongoing family dispute to assault the child.

According to various reports, the police visited the child’s home and recorded her statement under the guidance of the District Child Protection Unit. However, they have not yet disclosed further details of the case.

Koottickal Jayachandran rose to fame with his role in the hit Mohanlal-Jeethu Joseph thriller, Drishyam (2013). Otherwise, he is widely recognised by Malayali audiences for his work in films, stage shows, and television.

Whether the actor has been arrested remains unclear.

Besides Drishyam, Koottickal Jayachandran has acted in some popular films including Chanthupottu (2005), My Boss (2012), Memories (2013), Naaradan (2022), and Pathonpatham Noottandu (2022).
