Killjoy Films Kenda

The upcoming Kannada film Kenda (Live Coal) has been in the news for some time now.

Apart from the unique content it promises to offer, it has created enough buzz in the industry with filmmaker Roopa Rao, the director of the critically acclaimed film Gantumoote (2019), turning a producer for this socio-political satire.

Kenda also marks the directorial debut of writer-cinematographer Sahadev Kelvadi.

Sahadev Kelvadi, who also produced Kenda along with Roopa Rao under their production house Ameyukti Studios, worked as the cinematographer for Gantumoote. It was an intense coming-of-age high school drama set in Bangalore in the 1990s (pre-Internet Era).

And now, the latest buzz is that the Oscar and BAFTA-famed production house Killjoy Films has joined hands with the team to co-produce Kenda.

Killjoy Films is a globally renowned production company based in New York and Berlin with numerous Oscar-winning films in its portfolio.

The Kenda team has revealed that Killjoy Films, impressed by the making and content, eventually decided to co-produce the project. This collaboration will now facilitate the film’s reach to an international audience.

Killjoy Films has also acquired the distribution rights of Kenda. It is learned that director Sahadev Kelvadi and his team have met the stringent standards set by the company, garnering praise for their comprehensive approach to filmmaking.
