This remake of the Tamil superhit flick Oh My Kadavule generated enough buzz among Telugu moviegoers thanks to its casting and innovative promotions.

Ashwath Marimuthu, who directed the original, helmed the Telugu version as well. Read on to know how the Telugu moviegoers would find this remake.

Given a second chance

Arjun (Vishwak Sen) and Anu (Mithila Palkar) are childhood friends. When Anu asks Arjun to marry her, he agrees without giving it any thought.

However, married life presents before them an altogether different world. And soon, the innocent and unsuspecting friends turn into a bitter couple seeking a divorce.

Nevertheless, this couple is lucky, as they get a second chance.

The affectionate childhood buddies, who could not spend even a day without seeing each other since school days, eventually can’t stand each other’s company even for an hour. But why?

Will Arjun and Anu, who go to the extent of divorce, reunite or part ways? What role does God play in the lives of this couple?

The answers to these questions form the plot of Ori Devuda.

Screenplay elevates the story

We have seen umpteen movies dealing with friends-turned-couple stories narrating the ordeals of married life. But what sets Ori Devuda apart is its screenplay and treatment.

Ashwin Marimuthu came up with a novel and interesting screenplay, which turns a regular story into an engaging watch.

The director adds a fantasy angle that not only generates entertainment but also makes the audience think about the significance of choices one makes, and their impact in real life.

Good casting makes Ori Devuda lovable

Vishwak Sen is known for his short-tempered roles. He has built an “angry young man” image within a short span of his career.

But Ori Devuda presents a different Vishwak. He appears in a mature role in this flick. Showing restraint and subtle emotions, he progresses as an actor with Ori Devuda.

Mithila Palkar is a livewire and impressive. She makes a cute pair with Vishwak. She also bears a close resemblance to “Colours” Swathi.

Veteran hero Venkatesh appears as God in the movie. Though the duration of his role is short, he is the one who pulls the strings. But it’s a pretty routine role for Venkatesh.

Asha Bhatt is the second female lead, and she is fine.

Venkatesh Kakumanu is endearing as the best friend of the lead pair. Murali Sharma’s character as Anu’s father and an entrepreneur is heartwarming.

Music and other crafts

Leon James composed the songs and the background score for the flick. And he did a good job.

A couple of songs like Gundellona… stays with the audience even after they leave the theatres. The background score is in tune with the rom-com genre.

Cinematographer Vidhu Ayyanna did a pretty job. He shot the whole movie beautifully.

Vijay Mukthavarapu’s editing could have been better. A runtime of 143 minutes is long for a movie like this.

Having been produced by PVP Cinema, Ori Devuda looks rich in production values.

Verdict

Ori Devuda is an enjoyable movie about relationships. It charmingly depicts friendship, love, and marriage between a young couple. Youth and family audiences can watch it.
