Varun Tej in 'Operation Valentine'. (X)
Mega hero Varun Tej seems to have added another disaster to his career. His latest release, Operation Valentine, seems a complete washout, as there were hardly any audiences in theatres.
The cinema halls across the Telugu states, where the Telugu-Hindi bilingual is being screened, are almost deserted.
Operation Valentine, released on 1 March, was directed by Shakti Pratap Singh Hada.
Sony Pictures International Productions, Sandeep Mudda Renaissance Pictures, and God Bless Entertainment jointly produced the film.
Manushi Chhillar played the female lead. Ruhani Sharma appeared in a crucial role.
According to the makers, there was no increase in theatre footfall for their film on the second day. On the third day, the collections were paltry.
It is proved that Operation Valentine faced a disappointing reception despite extensive efforts that went into promoting the movie, thus making it a disaster.
Varun Tej promoted the project in North India but in vain.
Sony Pictures poured an amount of ₹40 crore into the film. However, debutant director Shakti Pratap failed to capitalise on Varun Tej’s performance.
It looks like recovering the budget may prove costly to the makers.
