A street in the city of Markham, Canada has been named after Indian music maestro AR Rahman.

The Oscar-winning music composer-singer shared this news on social media on Monday, 29 August. In a letter which he posted on his social media handles, Rahman thanked Markham city mayor Frank Scrapitti, respective counsellors, Indian Consulate General Apoorva Srivastava, and the people of Canada for the honour.

Rahman also thanked the people of India for all the love. “All the creative people who worked with me, who gave me the inspiration to rise up and celebrate hundred years of cinema,” the letter read.
