Of the at least nine Indian films — including Pan Nalin’s Chhello Show (Last Film Show), which was India’s official entry for Best Picture in a Foreign Language category — in the race for the Oscars, only RRR made it to the nomination stage.

While RRR missed out in the Best Picture category but scored a nomination for the Best Original Song, the only two other nominations from India have come in the documentary categories.

Shaunak Sen and Kartiki Gonsalves’ All That Breathes made it under the Best Documentary category, and The Elephant Whisperers was nominated in the Best Documentary Short Film category.

The remainder — including Gangubai Kathiawadi, The Kashmir Files, Kantara, Me Vasantrao, Tujhya Sathi Kahi Hi, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Iravin Nizhal, Vikrant Rona, and Chhello Show did not make the cut.
