Mammootty seems to be having a good time as his films are being well-received by movie buffs and critics.
His latest release Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, drew a positive response after its theatrical release. Rorschach was another blockbuster in 2022.
Amid these success stories, the actor’s new movie Christopher is all set to hit the theatres on 9 February. Directed by B Unnikrishnan, it features the actor in a police avatar, yet again.
He appeared as a cop in Unda (2019). Unnikrishnan joined hands with the Bheeshma Parvam-actor after their first movie Pramani (2010).

During a promotional event held in Kochi on Sunday, 5 February, Mammootty spoke about Christopher. “We are not making any big claims about the movie. But we believe that it has turned out to be a good one,” he said amid thunderous applause from the audience.
The 71-year-old actor appealed to the audience to watch the film with the same energy and help revive the Malayalam film industry which is trying hard to recover from the losses induced by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I hope that Christopher will meet your expectations. You must watch this movie in theatres and later in OTT, too. These new technologies are meant to give new modes of movie watching,” Mammootty felt.
On a funny note, the thespian asked the people to watch Christopher not only on the first day but also on the second, third, 10th, 11th, and 12th day and as long as it is screened in the theatres.
Christopher is produced by B Unnikrishnan under his RD Illuminations productions.
The movie also casts Amala Paul, Sneha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Dileesh Pothan, and Shine Tom Chacko in key roles. Udaykrishna is the scriptwriter and Justin George is the music director.
At the event, Shine Tom Chacko shared his experience working with the veteran actor, again. He was earlier seen with Mammootty in Unda and Bheeshma Parvam.
A promo song was also launched at the event.
During a media interaction in Dubai recently, held as part of the promotion of Christopher, Mammootty was vocal about film reviews. He opined that the reviews or comments should not tarnish the movie.
When asked about the different kinds of films he is doing at his age, the actor said he is enjoying the work and also the roles he is being offered at this point in his career.
Meanwhile, the actor is producing his next two films: Kathal and Kannur Squad. Kathal, directed by The Great Indian Kitchen-fame Jeo Baby, features Tamil actress Jyotika as the female lead.
