Telugu superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni recently faced a social media backlash, after an incident involving his bodyguards, and a fan at the Mumbai airport. A video of the episode went viral, attracting widespread criticism from netizens.

The incident took place when a fan tried to approach Nagarjuna, in a crowded area at the airport. Unaware of the fan’s presence, the actor continued walking as his bodyguards intervened, forcefully pushing the fan away.

Nagarjuna did not react and continued walking, while Dhanush, who was also present, glanced back a few times, but kept walking, as well.

Nagarjuna was dressed in a black shirt, beige pants, and shoes, while Dhanush wore a blue T-shirt with matching pants and shoes.

Many expressed their disappointment and anger towards Nagarjuna and his security team.

One of the online users remarked, “That’s why they say never meet your heroes. They’re bound to let you down. It’s strange to feel deeply disappointed by those you idolised as a child.”

Acknowledging the incident, Nagarjuna addressed it on social media. In a heartfelt post, he expressed regret and apologised to the fan, stating, “This shouldn’t have happened”.

The video of the fan being mistreated highlighted the challenges fans often encounter when trying to meet their favourite celebrities.

Fans await Dhanush’s response

The incident quickly went viral when the X account, Viral Bhayani, shared the video, captioning it, “Where has humanity gone?” Furthermore, fans are seeking an explanation from Dhanush, who remained silent despite being a witness to the incident.

Nagarjuna and Dhanush are part of the film, Kubera, which also features Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh. The movie is produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Rama Mohan Rao under their banners Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations Private Limited.

Devi Sri Prasad is the music composer, and Niketh Bommi is the cinematographer. Chaithanya Pingali co-wrote the screenplay with Sekhar Kammula. This marks Dhanush’s first collaboration with the acclaimed Telugu director.

Nagarjuna, known for his action roles, has established himself with films like Aakhari Poratam (1988), Killer (1992), Criminal (1994), Ratchagan (1997), and Don (2007).

Over his career, Nagarjuna has acted in over 84 Telugu films and 14 Hindi films.
