Hansika Motwani My name is shruti

After enthralling fans in her Telugu debut Desamuduru (2007), actress Hansika Motwani couldn’t really maintain the momentum at the box office here. A couple of roles clicked in between though — in Prabhas-starrer Billa (2007) and Vishnu Manchu-starrer Denikaina Ready (2012).

“I’ve never had any regrets in my career. I have always been busy in Tamil cinema. That’s the reason there is a huge gap in my Telugu filmography,” Hansika says, adding that she is not content yet as she wants to achieve more.

Now after a long gap, the Desamuduru star is back to revive her career in the Telugu film industry with the suspense thriller — My Name is Shruti.

The actor is in Hyderabad on Thursday, 16 November, to promote My Name is Shruti which, she says, raises some pertinent questions in the most-thriving billion-dollar medical industry.

A crime thriller

The film is a crime thriller set against the backdrop of an organ-harvesting mafia.

Hansika Motwani enjoys thrillers a lot. Her latest outing My Name is Shruti is a dark thriller that explores the subject of the darkworld mafia of skin business. “I think for the first time, a film with this backdrop has been made,” she quipped.

The actor plays the character of Shruti who falls into a trap while working at an ad agency.

“Shruti has to bail herself out. She is a fighter and confident in facing challenges. How does she come out of the murk? How Shruti dodges all the hurdles while accomplishing the daunting task in front of her — is the story that you need to watch on the screen,” Haniska explained.

Happy for Allu Arjun and Prabhas

Going almost 20 years back to when she scored massive success with her debut flick Desamuduru, Hansika feels proud of the laurels achieved by her co-star Allu Arjun.

“My co-stars Allu Arjun and Prabhas have reached the peaks of their professional careers. They both scaled well-deserved heights. Despite reaching new heights with every movie, both stay grounded,” she said.

She hastened to add, “Now, they have erased all the linguistic barriers. They deserve all the accolades that are being showered in all languages because of their hard work and continuous effort.”

Did her research

My Name is Shruti is directed by Srinivas Omkar. It features Murali Sharma, Aadukalam Naren, V Jayaprakash. and Pooja Ramachandran in crucial roles.

The film will hit the screens on 17 November.

Hansika did thorough research before going to the sets. Her mother being a dermatologist, the actor gathered first-hand information on how some greedy people make good money out of the thriving medical industry.

“When I asked her if the skin mafia really exists, my mom said she read about it. The common man has been kept in the dark about it. Our director too had bumped into two instances during his time of research,” she elucidated.

Well, it is challenging for directors to touch upon a sensitive subject in the medical industry. Now, let’s see how the film works at the box office!
