Television actor-writer Mohammed Azeem was declared the winner of the sixth season of the popular Tamil television reality show Bigg Boss today, 23 January.

This came much to the dismay of the supporters of Vikraman, an activist, who finished as the first runner-up of the season.

Shivin Ganesan, a transgender person, was the second runner-up.

Actor-politician Kamal Haasan, who was the host of Bigg Boss Tamil season 6, announced the winner at the Grand Finale.

Azeem, who began his victory speech by giving all glory to God, said, “My second thanks to my father and mother who only taught me what was good.”

“When I entered the Bigg Boss house, I playfully said, ‘Nominate me all 14 weeks. I will enter the finals. I have faith in myself, my God and my people.’ Here is the result,” he said and held up the trophy.

“The hesitation that precedes effort and the intoxication that accompanies success will stop the progress of an individual. So, I did not fret when I lost and I am not going to dance because I have won tonight. I will be in a state of equilibrium,” he stated.

He said he saw the title winner trophy as the new beginning of his life.

Krishnan Kutty, business head of Vijay TV, claimed that over 30 million people had watched this season of Bigg Boss.

Azeem, apart from the trophy and the title, also took home a cash prize of ₹50 lahks and a brand-new Maruti Suzuki Brezza car.

The sixth season, which started with 21 inmates, finally ended with three inmates reaching the grand finale.
