Megastar Chiranjeevi declared Indian Film Personality of The Year at IFFI 53

Megastar Chiranjeevi was on Sunday, 20 November, declared the Indian Film Personality of The Year 2022.

As a result, the Telugu star and former Union Minister will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 53rd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur made this announcement at the opening ceremony of IFFI at Goa on Sunday.

According to a statement from the Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur noted that with an illustrious career spanning almost four decades, Chiranjeevi had been a part of more than 150 feature films.

Elaborating on the artist, the minister said: “Chiranjeevi is a renowned Indian actor, dancer, film producer, voice artist, philanthropist and politician who has predominantly worked in Telugu Cinema with incredible performances in Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil languages as well.”

Recalling that Chiranjeevi has already been honoured with the awards like the Padma Bhushan (India’s third-highest civilian honour), the Raghupathi Venkaiah award, the Nandi award and many others, Thakur said that his influence claimed him the title Megastar.

Chiranjeevi made his debut with Punadhirallu in 1978.

He then went on to capture the imagination of the masses with his performance in films like Initlo Ramayya Veedilo Krishnayya, Khaidi, Challenge, Gangleader, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, and Indra.

He takes an active part in philanthropy through his organisation, the Chiranjeevi Charitable Foundation, founded in 1998, the ministry said in its statement.
