Mammootty thanks Vijay Sethupathi for his association in 'Turbo'.

Mammootty’s film Turbo continues to perform well in theatres. It marked the actor’s comeback to masala entertainers after a two-year hiatus, following Bheeshma Parvam (2022).

Turbo features an ensemble cast that includes Kannada actor Raj B Shetty and Telugu actor Sunil in significant roles. The film also includes a cameo voice appearance by Vijay Sethupathi towards the end.

The actor’s voice appearing at the end of the film hints at the possibility of a Turbo sequel and suggests his potential role in it. However, the makers have not made an official confirmation regarding this yet.

Mammootty expressed his gratitude on social media to Vijay Sethupathi, who starred in two Malayalam films thus far; Marconi Mathai (2019) and 19 (1) (A), which premiered on Disney+ Hotstar in 2022.

Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi is awaiting the release of Maharaja (directed by Nithilan Saminathan), which is scheduled for release on 14 June.

EXCLUSIVE: Working on ‘Turbo’ was a challenging experience, says Kannada actor Raj B Shetty

Remarkably, Turbo saw its release in more than 70 countries, setting a new milestone for Malayalam cinema.

From Kerala alone, Turbo amassed ₹35 crore at the box office, with special late-night screenings held across various theatres in the state.

Mammootty’s recent films like Rorschach (2022), Bramayugam (2024), Kaathal-The Core (2023), Kannur Squad (2023), and Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam (2023) were not commercial successes, but performed well at the box office.

Turbo‘s success represents a strong comeback for director Vysakh, whose earlier films Monster (2022) and Night Drive (2022) did not meet expectations at the box office.

Originally slated for a June release, Turbo, benefited from a decision to change its release date.

Written by Midhun Manuel Thomas, Turbo is produced by Mammootty Kampany and distributed by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films.
