fahadh faasil on Kalamandalam Sathyabhama

Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil is busy with quite a few projects. He will next be seen in Aavesham, which is set for release on 11 April.

The movie is directed by Jithu Madhavan, who debuted with the superhit movie Romancham last year.

Team Aavesham is now promoting the film in various colleges. It’s a trend now to woo the young audience to theatres in the initial days of a theatrical release.

It is produced jointly by Anwar Rasheed Entertainments and Fahadh Faasil and Friends.

Meanwhile, in a video, Fahadh Faasil was seen dancing with the students in a Kochi college to the tunes of the “Galatta” song from Aavesham.

During his interaction with the students at the college, the actor faced a tough question.

One of the students sought Fahadh’s stand on the recent controversy around Kalamandalam Sathyabhama’s racist remarks on Mohinyattam dancer-actor Dr RLV Ramakrishnan.

To this, Fahadh Faasil replied: “Whatever she (Kalamandalam Sathyabhama) said is wrong.”

However, the Malayalam actor requested the students not to pose any more such questions since it was a film promotional event.

It may be recalled that Kalamandalam Sathyabhama, in a recent interview, opined that the person who performs Mohiniyattam should be “Mohini” (enchanting). Indirectly referring to Ramakrishnan, she said he had “the colour of a crow. This is an art form that requires a stance that keeps the legs wide apart.”

“There is nothing more repulsive than a man who performs with his legs wide apart in this manner,” she added.

Her racist remarks drew criticism from people from various walks of life.

In a Facebook post, Ramakrishnan, who is the brother of famous film actor late Kalabhavan Mani, said Sathyabhama was continuing her racist abuse against him, alleging that he was not qualified to teach Mohiniyattam.

Ramakrishnan said it was difficult for a person from a scheduled caste to survive in the field of classical dance due to such people. “Legal action will be taken against such people,” he added.
