Director Thamar KV, who debuted with the wonderful Aayirathonnu Nunakal, is now back with another interesting project. This time he is teaming up with actors Asif Ali and Divya Prabha.
The film, which was tentatively referred to as Production Number 8, now has a title. The makers also released the first look poster along with the title announcement. The film titled Sarkeet, is expected to hit the screens in April 2025.

The film based in UAE, is expected to be a family entertainer, with elements of survival woven into its storyline. Apart from the lead actors, Deepak Parambol and Orhan are also part of the film. It is being produced by Ajith Vinayaka Films.
Thamar KV and the team wrapped up the shooting of the film in 32 days, starting on 27 November and finishing on 29 December.
According to a Cinema Express report, Divya confirmed that she plays the role of a nurse in the film, marking the fourth time she has portrayed a nurse on screen. In her last film the Cannes Grand Prix winner All We Imagine As Light too, she played the role of a young nurse working in Mumbai.
Asif Ali’s last film Rekhachithram, garnered appreciation from audience and critics alike.
Thamar, who had worked in the advertising industry in Dubai for over a decade, made a mark in the Malayalam industry with his debut directorial Aayirathonnu Nunakal (1001 Lies). It was released directly on SonyLIV in 2023.
Besides winning critical appreciation for its storyline, writing, filmmaking, and performances, the film won the hearts of the OTT audience, too.
Before its OTT debut, the movie was screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in December 2022, where it won accolades.
In an interview with South First, the filmmaker said, “The (1001 Lies) team initially feared that the audience at the IFFK might think it to be a copy of 12th Man (Mohanlal’s 2022 release with a similar story). But we were elated with the response.”
