Film producer Santosh T Kuruvila has alleged that the posters of Balti, starring Shane Nigam, are being systematically destroyed across Kerala.

In a Facebook post, Kuruvila claimed that there is a deliberate attempt to make Nigam, who is “rising to the forefront of Malayalam cinema,” irrelevant.

Directed by Unni Sivalingam, Balti has been receiving positive reviews and continues its theatrical run.

However, the producer alleged that posters of other films are being pasted over Balti’s posters and those of Nigam’s other release Haal.

“This is extreme intolerance. Why are the promotional materials of a successful Malayalam film being torn down?” he asked.

Kuruvila, who has earlier produced films like Maheshinte Prathikaaram, Action Hero Biju, Aadu 2, Mayanadhi, and Thallumala, said such incidents never occurred during his past productions.

He also shared photographs of the defaced posters, alleging that the “programme” has been happening statewide for the past ten days.

“As a producer, I am seeking support from Malayalam film lovers,” he added.
